Steve Jobs is at deaths door

Death and Deaths Dog from Family Guy

Death and Deaths Dog from Family Guy

Earlier today Steve Jobs failed to take part in an important conference call by Apple detailing its financial state. The news in that call was that Apple shareholders can expect lower returns in the coming year. This was rather unexpected news considering the increase in sales of the mac and iPhone lines. Steve was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer posing questions on his state of health and his future at Apple.

This sounds dire for Apple and the Apple community, far less Steve himself. What does the future hold?

Now I wonder, was this story generated to create buzz for the newspaper, I mean we all know they’re not doing so well now that there is so much more truth out there these days or maybe  the journalist (is he worthy of that title?) received some backhander from a competitor looking to make the market jumpy and affect the stock price. It would’nt be the first time its happened and Apple is making some pretty big inroads to a number of markets.

It turns out that Mr Jobs has only participated in these calls three times out of the last 11 calls and then only to deliver bad news. So his non-appearance isn’t a surprise, in fact its expected and maybe hoped for!

More good news is that there are some pretty big announcements coming on new Apple products. Th downside of that is it always has a hit on profits due to initial costs of manufacture, advertising, etc. Nothing to do with Steve Jobs health or his future at Apple, which I guess is pretty secure.

So you see this is a non-story, a manufactured soundbite to titilate the palate of the blog readers of the world that crave a new story to interest them in what is a sea of bland reporting.

We allow ourselves to be taken in by such mis-information all the time. The headline becomes more important than the story.

We rush past news stands, we half listen to the evening news headlines, we zip through the lists of news items on our RSS readers and we miss what is REAL.

I am growing tired of the non-news, are you?

And just for clarity on Steve Jobs. He’s not dying, just delivering a new iPhone 3G to Mr Death himself. Hey everyone wants one! DONT THEY?! (Death has gone for a white one to kick his look up a notch, all that black was making him depressed! LOL)

Take care and dont just accept the news as its laid in front of you, not everyone is honest.

The future is green, green $$$!!!

Steve Jobs iPod Touch Updates

Steve Jobs iPod Touch Updates

The iPhone 3G brings with it many great updates, including the App Store.

Yet as before Apple has chosen to tax the poor iPod Touch users.

This is a loss of trust for many people and thats much more of an important issue than $10 it costs to purchase the update.

The thing is Apple tried the market, you all gave in to the first update so now they are going to screw you every time there is an update.

This, for me, makes the iPod Touch now a no-go and has made me decide that I will not now rush to purchase any new iPod that comes along.

That sounds major but the iPod as we knew it is effectively dead, the high end product is the iPhone, the iPod nano will effectively replace the iPod. If you have an iPod Touch you have a hobbled iPhone.

It will therefore become cheaper in future to manufacture and sell you an iPhone with no-sim, you get your iPod functionality and Apple get the possibility of you using that SIM card slot at some point in the future. That is surely the direction in which things are going?

That means you will have to pay for future iPhone upgrades? After all, there is a market there, why would they not? They are a company, not a charity.

With millions of users worldwide it suddenly becomes worth charging even $1.

And what of OS X updates or iLife updates that often add functionality? Should we pay for those too? Maybe we will have to, after all there is now an App Store from whence to purchase them!

That is why I moaned so much when the first update came out, we should never have accepted it then, all we did was set the path in stone for the future.

And if Apple can charge for updates, then so can Microsoft and all the other companies that follow in their respective wakes. This is a much bigger change than we may initially see!

P.S. Paying for an upgrade that allows access to the App Store, should that not have been free to allow all to access the App Store apps? Kind of shot yourself in the foot there perhaps? REVENGE! Slightly, partially, yummy! LOL

O2 website goes down after a few iPhone 3G orders…

Posted by adminsteve  Published in Apple, Contains Images, iPhone

O2 have apologised to potential customers after their website failed due to the amount of orders for the new iPhone 3G.

They have taken orders at a rate of 13,000 per second!!!!

WOW! Even I am impressed with that. Now just got to label and box them!!!

Can’t see many of these being lost by couriers can you?!!! LOL

Snacking on fruit, with half the world!

Posted by adminsteve  Published in Apple, Contains Images, iPhone

It seems like half the world is sitting here watching, listening, blogging, twittering or IM’ing news of Apple’s WWDC 2008 event from the Moscone Convention Hall in San Francisco today.

I have to admit to being caught up in the excitement even though I sold my iPhone recently.

The iPhone is a great bit of kit but I didnt really have the need for it anymore so, sadly, I parted ways with it.

It certainly looks like exciting things are happening for it and I will no doubt make use of some of the features even if I don’t actually own a device.

Also waiting on Snow Leopard info and hopefully more…..i’ll keep listening.
