My webhost has seriously pissed me off today.

They have, in their wisdom, signed up to show a less than reputable search engine on my error pages.

So if you come to my site and you get any sort of error you would be diverted to an error page which has this other companies search page at the bottom of it.

I don’t want people given content on my website that I haven’t personally approved, this isn’t GeoCities or some other free hosting site, this is a web hosting account that I pay to use. It is after all MY website with MY content, that is why I pay this money to them instead of going for a free hosting account so I have a degree of control over what is seen when you browse my sites.

This was all done without any word to me of course further ruining their reputation with me. I do have the ability to make my own error pages to stop this abuse of my sites but it’s the work that it has involved today that also has me annoyed.

What if I were running a site for kids and this search engine started to display inappropriate links?

Am I moving all of my sites, well no, ok cop out I know but I just dont have the time or the inclination to recode everything that would take weeks of long hours to do and to be fair their support is pretty good. But that doesn’t stop me moaning (which I love to do! hee hee) and bad mouthing them here on my blog (to be seen by millions…thousands..erm…erm…yeah…but I can still do it! LOL)
