The new Wembley Stadium, London
April 9th, 2007 by adminsteve

This is a picture of the new 90,000 seat Wembley Stadium from my hotel room the other week. - Picture of Wembley Stadium - Click here to view (Click the Read More link)

The new stadium cost £734 Million ($1.5 Billion) to build and replaced the old iconic stadium with its twin towers which were crushed and used as the foundations. - http://www.wembleystadium.com/

The stadium itself is lit up in white, and you can just see the arch above, normally this is lit up as well and can be seen from various parts of London.

The building lit up in colour is the Wembley Arena, which used to be be the swimming pool, now long gone, of the 1934 Empire Games. It was also used for the 1948 Olympic Games. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wembley_arena

As well as the new stadium it seems as if the whole of Wembley is being re-built and re-generated at the moment with new buildings and towers springing up all over the place. The area does need it though having been quite rundown in past years.
